  • Day 1–2End-to-end Tableau intro — build and publish your first interactive dashboard from scratch
  • Day 3–460 unique line chart variations + 18 bar chart techniques — rebuild each step-by-step
  • Day 5–7Mini project: hospital admissions dataset — 1-page dashboard with tooltips and consistent colors
Week 1 Outcome Publish your first dashboard to Tableau Public. Write down one thing you want to improve next week.
Week Two Calculations + Interactivity

  • Day 8–9Mastering Tableau Calculations workshop — rebuild examples, then add your own variation
  • Day 10–11Table Calculations: learn to translate complex logic into plain English, apply to a new dataset
  • Day 12–14Mini project: dashboard with calculated fields and at least one table calculation
Week 2 Outcome Publish a calculations-driven dashboard to Tableau Public. Make a list of 3 skills you want to practice more.
Week Three Layout, UX & Design

  • Day 15–16Mastering Containers — build a full interactive dashboard from scratch using layout best practices
  • Day 17–1810 Actionable KPIs in Tableau — reformat an older dashboard, add consistent fonts, spacing, and color
  • Day 19–21Mini project: polished dashboard with strong layout, UX, and optional show/hide elements
Week 3 Outcome Publish your most polished dashboard yet. Write down the one design technique that made the biggest difference.
Week Four Advanced Techniques
Parameters, Actions
& Final Project
  • Day 22–2312 Parameter use cases — rebuild exactly, then add a second parameter for a new use case
  • Day 24–25Set Actions vs. Parameter Actions — watch both masterclasses and build your own examples
  • Day 26–30Final project: full dashboard using calculations, table calcs, parameters, actions, and intentional layout

How much time does it take each day? +
Plan for 30–60 minutes per day on learning days, and 2–3 hours on mini project days (Days 5–7, 12–14, 19–21, and 26–30). The mini projects are where the real growth happens — don't rush them.
Do I need a paid Tableau license? +
You can complete the full plan using Tableau Public, which is completely free. Tableau Public lets you connect to common file types and publish your dashboards directly — everything you need for the 30-day plan.
What if I fall behind? +
Go at your own pace. The "30 days" is a structure, not a deadline. If a week takes you two weeks — that's fine. The goal is consistent progress, not a perfect streak. Andy's tip: write down one thing you want to improve before moving to the next week.
